I make my own natural detox blend of ingredients including powdered turmeric, ginger, black pepper, cumin and cinnamon. Add this to boiling water to make a tea. Add honey and a drizzle of olive oil.
I gave this recipe to a friend’s mother who has cancer with the intention of helping her immune system and it is helping her heal. Where she was getting worse, within a month she has been getting better.
Hopefully it continues to help her.
What’s so special about my natural detox potion?
Let’s take a look at the ingredients…
It’s no accident that turmeric is often labelled a ‘superfood’. It has positive effects on the body and mind and can be considered a pharmaceutical product, especially for natural detox. The yellow coloring substances in turmeric are antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and fight cancer.
But don’t take it from me…
Curcumin, the stuff that makes turmeric yellow, is recognized by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and academic investigators around the world as a potent anti-carcinogen.
UCLA’s Alzheimer’s Research Center confirms that turmeric is also therapeutic for Alzheimer’s.
Research strongly supports the clinical application of curcumin in Parkinson’s.
…and probably the best source available is from my good friend Shaun Nunes over at Crunch Fitness – BlackHawk, a 20 year master trainer and physique competitor, who says “Honestly, I’m mad at myself for not learning about it years ago! I feel the effects pretty much immediately. I train real hard 6x/wk and don’t feel any inflammation or stress in my body.”
Quick tip: Turmeric needs both black pepper and fat in order to be absorbed.
Ginger is famous for its antioxidant properties. It also lowers cholesterol, regulates blood sugar and is helpful in fighting nausea. It stimulates your system and alleviates cold symptoms, stomach pain and headaches. And most importantly, the anti-carcinogen potential of ginger is well documented and it can prevent various cancers.
Quick tip: Consumption should be avoided for children under the age of two – this is powerful stuff!!
A cooking essential, black pepper is also very good for you. In fact it is an ideal natural detox agent and diuretic. It helps you sweat (okay, not so fun!), and so is a method of ridding toxic substances from your body. It boosts your metabolism, leads to better digestion and is useful if you want to be a slimmer, leaner you.
Because black pepper exhibits strong total antioxidant activity, it is also great for colds and fights against bacterial infections. It’s great for your complexion, slows the aging process, and stimulates the nervous system leading to less stress. And most importantly, black pepper is a lethal weapon against breast cancer.
Perhaps it’s time to make your dinners a bit spicier?

Quick tip: If you are planning to binge (hey, I won’t tell), add lots of pepper to make sure you don’t get sick from the additional amounts of food your body isn’t accustomed to.
Natural Detox King Cumin as I like to call it, is great for digestion, lowers blood pressure, relieves colic and menstrual pain, directly leads to weight loss and contains an anticancer phytochemical called Thymoquinone. Shall I go on?

Quick tip: Add just 1 teaspoon in your yogurt daily and lose 7 pounds within 3 months without dieting at all – yay!
Cinnamon not only tastes good, but it also has many therapeutic benefits. Research clearly shows that cinnamon has antimicrobial and antiparasitic activity; lowers blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol; contains antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective properties; prevents Alzheimer’s and ulcers; and heals wounds.
It’s also good for cramps, headaches, and improves mood due to high levels of magnesium.
Cinnamon is the secret to longevity, youthful looking skin and a slimmer tummy.
Not too shabby.
Quick tip: Add some honey and put the mixture on pimples before going to bed so they’ll be gone by morning.
Long-hailed as a cosmetic wonder, honey fights free radicals and toxins that cause premature ageing.
In cancer, results from clinical studies suggest that honey reduces the risk of developing mouth sores from radiation treatment.
It’s one of the few things that can beat the common cold because it’s naturally extremely acidic. According to Amina Harris, executive director of the Honey and Pollination Center at the Robert Mondavi Institute at University of California, Davis, “It has a pH that falls between 3 and 4.5, approximately, and that acid will kill off almost anything that wants to grow there”.
Just be careful – pediatricians prohibit the consumption of honey by infants who may suffer toxic poisoning!

Quick tip: Honey cures hangovers so next time you’re leaving for work with bloodshot eyes try a yogurt, honey and orange juice smoothie – you’ll be presentable by the time you get there, I promise (assuming you didn’t add any booze to your smoothie by accident!).
Simply put, olive oil nourishes, maintains, protects, stimulates, cures and inspires.
If you need some omegas (and really who doesn’t?), olive oil is the way to go.
